Im currently working on setting up on the fly transcoding so that the xbox can play higher bitrate videos without stuttering and frame drops. So far ive had little success but this is due to the client end (pc or where the server is set) needing configured so that it processes it on that end. The xbox itself has a transcoding feature but with the low cpu/ram combo it doesnt really help and therefore needs done on the fly. All testing being done with the newer plugin i posted up plexbmc plex-exchange.boards.net/thread/16/xbmc-xbox-beta-compatible-addon using the 3.5 beta 2 build. More testing and results to follow......

hi mate no not using handbrake. im trying to create a profile from which plex can access and trans-code the media automatically. It just takes the source material and trans codes it using a profile then deletes the trans code once watched keeping the original file intact.
its uses the ffmpeg framework to achieve this. Currently Ive got the stuff to come up on the xbox and looking at the log its picking up the newly created profile. however i haven't got all the settings right yet which has either resulted in stuttering and/or the xbox crashing.
im still testing this but finding the relevant info to create the xbox profile is proving difficult. however ill keep testing and report back again soon
p.s
on the xbox its simple to achieve what your saying without the need of a script, simply use your chosen program to convert the media and in that program point the converted folder to one you have either already set or can set to be viewed on the xbox. the converted file comes up straight away and can be played immediately (i did this for both the past ufc and formula 1 shows so i could see them in hd 720p) without waiting for complete conversion (i'll throw a tutorial or how i did it and the ffmpeg program i used)
